A sweet old soul
We lost Worf last night.

It came at the end of a day when we had extra time to visit him. He was happy to see us and strong in our arms. His doctor was surprised and encouraged by the progress he was making. We left in good spirits and at peace, telling ourselves if this was the last day we were to have with him, that would be enough.

And, as a higher power, and most likely Worf himself agreed, it was.

Misty and I can't begin to express the gratitude we feel to everyone who posted a comment, called with a kind word or otherwise sent positive energies to ourselves and the boy.

Bless you all.

I'm so sorry he's gone, but I'm glad he was strong for his last moments with you both.

I know how hard it is to lose a pet, so you two will definitely be in my and Melissa's thoughts.

Let me know if there's anything I can do.

-Andy

I am very sorry to hear this. It's so tragic and terrible to lose a pet and companion. Hang in there.

It's always hard to lose a pet after a long time. For a large chunk of my childhood, we had a schnauzer. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but a good, loyal friend with whom I used to fight for the warm spot on the floor near the television. (He usually lost, and ended up claiming my lap as second prize.)

My freshman year at college, his back finally gave out, and he had to be put to sleep. It upset my mother dreadfully for days -- she had been the one to take care of him in his last few weeks, holding him up. She sent him to the groomers on the last day so he'd look like a silver dollar going out.

I remember I said to her that I rather wished I'd been there to say good-bye.

"No, you don't," she said back.

Looking back on it, I think she was right. It would have been painful.

In any event, no doubt Worf was sent off with a good ration of love that he took with him. A good thing to have.

You gave him the most fantastic life any dog could ever ask for, and while I am truly sorry for your loss may his memories comfort you during this time..it's hard to lose a pet but know you gave him more love and comfort by taking him in, love and comfort he may have never known if it were not for you and Misty. I'm sorry for your loss.

RIP Worf.

Paul, I'm sorry for you and Misty. As for Worf...well, given his human-gifted name, I hope I'm not out of line wishing him well in Sto-Vo-Kor.

*HUGS* And condolences for you and Misty. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I've lost two cats while growing up, so I understand. You gave him a wonderful and loving home. :)

I have been reading all the other posts about your beloved pup and then to see this makes my heart sad:( I lost my Zooey this past Sept. and still miss him though he had lived a long life.

My thoughts are with you both.

In all the long experiences I've had in my life, I can say with a great deal of assurance there is absolutely nothing in the world as horrible as losing a pet. I am so very sorry.

I'm sorry to read this. Spent yesterday playing with my friends' pets and know it's never cool to lose a family member.

So long, Mr. worf. I only got to meet you on here briefly but know that you were a valued member of the Dini family. :(

I'm sorry for your loss.

I lost five of my cockatiels in one month last year. My condolences to you and Misty. You're in my thoughts.
